Pet Safe: No

Skill Level: I am great for beginners

Light

He needs to soak in direct bright sunlight each day for 4 hours to feel energetic and strong. When he is young, keep him in bright indirect sunlight but when he is all grown up, he can handle more direct sunlight. The ideal spot in your house or offices could be any south-facing window from where they can absorb maximum sunlight.

Watering

As he is a succulent family member, he can hold water in his leaves. This is the major reason that they don’t work well when kept in moist soil constantly. Water them when the top one to two inches of the soil becomes dry. Water him once every 2 to 3 weeks but keep checking him.

Temperature

He flourishes well at room temperature ranging from 65° to 75°F but he mostly enjoys the cooler temperatures at night and during winters.

Humidity

He loves to stay in low humidity levels. So, if you keep him in a room with 30-50% humidity, he will be overwhelmed. But he has the power to even thrive in average humidity levels. Keep it in that part of home where air circulation is good and avoid grouping jade with other plants as plants humidify one another.

Propagation

It’s relatively easy to propagate him from stem cuttings. You can do this at home by snipping the leaf from the plant. Then keep that leaf in a potting mixture of half soil and half perlite. Try to water this mixture once you lay down the leaf and keep water modestly until roots come out.

Fertilization

He needs a high-quality houseplant fertilizer once every six months. You have to use a proportionate diluted fertilizer. Keep in mind that you should water it regularly and then you have to water it with fertilizer water.

Fun Fact

You know, being a succulent shrub, his tissues in leaves are adapted to store water in order to survive in arid climate or dry soil. Wow! He doesn’t bloom for years but if he does, he produces small white or pink flowers but that is rare.

Should I repot my plant once it arrives?

When you receive your plant, it has been growing in it nursery pot for some time.  It is recommended that your repot your plant so that you have the opportunity to inspect the roots. This is a great opportunity to use a cache pot to match your home decor theme.  We offer a variety of cashe pots for sale.

When repotting it is suggested to repot in the same size as the nursery pot but if your roots are extensive and full you can "pot up" your plant to a size larger which usually means adding an inch to either side of the plant. Be careful while watering them so they don’t hold too much water or their dirt gets too wet.

We you use Noot Rescue Mix, as a recommended soil for indoor houseplants or use a standard potting mix but be more careful about watering instru

When is the time to "pot up" or transfer my plant into a larger pot?

The answer to this is when your water is draining out of the pot completely and never really gets your soil moistened.  It is then that there are likely more roots more soil. Repotting is usually done once in a year or so.

Make sure to never "pot up" more than an inch on each side and immediately after potting, lightly water your plant.

Why does my plant look different then the website?

Important The first lifestyle photo is for purposes of showing your plants potential size at maturity and is not a true representation of what you will receive.

Live plants will have variations in color, texture, finish, and size. While we make every effort to display our plants as accurately as possible, there may be subtle differences from what is displayed online.
