The name might sound scary but actually ‘Spider Plant Reverse’ is a good-looking plant that can add a pop of uniqueness to your home or offices with its long grass like streaked leaves whose middle is yellowish-white and while the outline is forest green.  He is adaptable to live in any environment and this makes him a hot cake. He got his name from its little ‘pups’ present on him that resemble a spider’s body and sometimes may yield white flowers off the long stem during summer season. He can be your best buddy due to his capability to remove 90% toxins from the surroundings.

Pet Safe: Yes

Skill Level: I am great for beginners

Light

He likes to take on the indirect light or filtered sunlight through the window. A full day sun can burn the leaves so avoid keeping him under direct sunlight if you don’t want his beauty to fade away.

Watering

Get ready to water him when the top one inch of the soil becomes parched. He needs to absorb water one to four times a week so water him accordingly.

Temperature

He feels healthy and grows well by staying in daytime temperature ranging from 65 degrees Fahrenheit to 75 degrees Fahrenheit and at night he is happy when the temperature ranges between 50 degrees Fahrenheit to 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

Humidity

This baby thrives well in moderate humidity levels. He will stay fresh in low humidity but when the humidity is more, he grows well. When the air is too dry, the tip of the leaves become brown and, in that case, you have to mist them with water.

Propagation

You can help him increase his family by using Plantlets or cuttings. The easiest way to propagate him at home is using plantlets. You have to select a mature plant with few short and sturdy roots.  Take them away from the plant and keep them in some propagation media. New roots will come out in some time but it is an arduous task so it is better to buy a baby plant directly.

Fertilization

He actively grows in the summer growth period. You have to give him a fertilizer every two weeks but use a water soluble or diluted houseplant fertilizer. Usually, a liquid fertilizer works best for him as it has no fluoride and little boron. If his leaf tips turn brown or if white crust comes on the soil, then it is a sign of excess salt in fertilizer or the water you are using is hard water. To trickle out the salts that could be present in water, you have to run water through the soil and drainage pit at least twice the capability of the container.

Fun Fact

As you know, reverse spider plants can purify the air of any indoor space so if you grow 15 plants all together, they would purify the air of an average house size.

Should I repot my plant once it arrives?

When you receive your plant, it has been growing in it nursery pot for some time.  It is recommended that your repot your plant so that you have the opportunity to inspect the roots. This is a great opportunity to use a cache pot to match your home decor theme.  We offer a variety of cashe pots for sale.

When repotting it is suggested to repot in the same size as the nursery pot but if your roots are extensive and full you can "pot up" your plant to a size larger which usually means adding an inch to either side of the plant. Be careful while watering them so they don’t hold too much water or their dirt gets too wet.

We you use Noot Rescue Mix, as a recommended soil for indoor houseplants or use a standard potting mix but be more careful about watering instru

When is the time to "pot up" or transfer my plant into a larger pot?

The answer to this is when your water is draining out of the pot completely and never really gets your soil moistened.  It is then that there are likely more roots more soil. Repotting is usually done once in a year or so.

Make sure to never "pot up" more than an inch on each side and immediately after potting, lightly water your plant.

Why does my plant look different then the website?
