Instilling a sense of optimism and lightness with this distinctively handsome plant ‘Palm Ponytail’ with long, curvy and thin leaves along with sleek bulb like trunk. He has become an ideal house plant due to the fact he is easy to handle. Strangely, He is neither a tree nor a palm, in fact he is a member of succulent family. Many people know him as elephant foot tree or the bottle palm tree. His lush green long leaves grow from the upper side of the trunk and fall downwards like a ponytail. Hence it is called palm ponytail.
Pet Safe: Yes
Skill Level: I am great for beginners
He needs fresh bright indirect light to function properly and stay healthy. Try to keep him in the room where more sunlight comes. Though he can most of the time tolerate the direct light but don’t plan to grow him directly under the sun. He will be so nice to you even if you give him low light half the year and bright light the other half.
He is a proud member of a succulent family so he has the ability to store water in its leaves when his surrounding climate becomes dry. So, you should keep him in a semi-dry climate.  Make sure to allow the water of topsoil to try in between your watering schedule. Water him every two to three weeks. Water carefully in summers and winters.
He feels so good when you keep the temperature range from 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. He can tolerate flexible temperature but try to keep him in the mentioned temperature range.
Though he has the ability to withstand dry conditions, he should be kept in Average humidity level of 40%. Because of his origin from the Mexican desert, he can do extremely well even in the dry air of your heated homes.
Ponytail palm shoot is the best and easiest way to duplicate him. You have to take a knife and remove the pups away from the parent plant. The shoots of ponytail palm divide easily so Pups that become the base for roots make the best start. Take a sand based potting soil to grow them. Wait and have some patience!
Being a member of the Bonsai family, it is important for his health to give him a high-end houseplant fertilizer as all the essential nutrients in the soil get washed away with watering. You have to use a fertilizer in diluted form. Give him the feed once or twice every month in summers and once in winters.
Ponytail palms became known to Europeans in 1870, when they were discovered by the French, and the plants later became available in various parts of the world.

When you receive your plant, it has been growing in it nursery pot for some time. It is recommended that your repot your plant so that you have the opportunity to inspect the roots. This is a great opportunity to use a cache pot to match your home decor theme. We offer a variety of cashe pots for sale.
When repotting it is suggested to repot in the same size as the nursery pot but if your roots are extensive and full you can "pot up" your plant to a size larger which usually means adding an inch to either side of the plant. Be careful while watering them so they don’t hold too much water or their dirt gets too wet.
We you use Noot Rescue Mix, as a recommended soil for indoor houseplants or use a standard potting mix but be more careful about watering instru
The answer to this is when your water is draining out of the pot completely and never really gets your soil moistened. It is then that there are likely more roots more soil. Repotting is usually done once in a year or so.
Make sure to never "pot up" more than an inch on each side and immediately after potting, lightly water your plant.
Important The first lifestyle photo is for purposes of showing your plants potential size at maturity and is not a true representation of what you will receive.
