Pet Safe: No

Skill Level: I’m great for a beginner

He doesn’t require any sunny corner or window in your house because he has more surviving powers so some indirect light can work well for this adaptable baby. Another best part is that he can tolerate some shade. Woohoo!

He just loves to soak in water seldomly or you can say moderate water levels are best to feed his thirst. You have to wait for the top inch of the potting mix to dry in between watering phases. You have to reduce watering from fall to late winter and remember excess watering is never recommended.

He becomes happy when you keep the temperature between 40-85 degrees Fahrenheit and it is best for him to grow well.  Just keep in mind to keep them away from cold drafts and too much heat.

He always asks for Average humidity levels to nourish beautifully. You don’t need to give a special humidity treatment. To make him glad, you can mist with water regularly.

You can increase his family easily at home through a simple way by division of its rhizomes. Just cut a specific section of him including roots and foliage intact and then grow it in a new pot with some moist soil. The other way is through leaf cuttings placed in 1-inch-deep soil.

He doesn’t need a lot of fertilization to have its food but doing it in an optimized way can boost its growth during the growing season. Try to maintain a balance by using 10-10-10 or 20-20-20 fertilizer every 4-6 weeks for best results. Do not over-fertilize it.

Fun Fact

He is also known as ‘mother-in-law’s tongue’ due to its leaves that are long and sharp just like the tongue of a typical mother-in-law. Haha! They release oxygen throughout the night unlike other plants due to a special type of photosynthesis.

Should I repot my plant once it arrives?

When you receive your plant, it has been growing in it nursery pot for some time.  It is recommended that your repot your plant so that you have the opportunity to inspect the roots. This is a great opportunity to use a cache pot to match your home decor theme.  We offer a variety of cashe pots for sale.

When repotting it is suggested to repot in the same size as the nursery pot but if your roots are extensive and full you can "pot up" your plant to a size larger which usually means adding an inch to either side of the plant. Be careful while watering them so they don’t hold too much water or their dirt gets too wet.

We you use Noot Rescue Mix, as a recommended soil for indoor houseplants or use a standard potting mix but be more careful about watering instru

When is the time to "pot up" or transfer my plant into a larger pot?

The answer to this is when your water is draining out of the pot completely and never really gets your soil moistened.  It is then that there are likely more roots more soil. Repotting is usually done once in a year or so.

Make sure to never "pot up" more than an inch on each side and immediately after potting, lightly water your plant.

Why does my plant look different then the website?

Important The first lifestyle photo is for purposes of showing your plants potential size at maturity and is not a true representation of what you will receive.
